My Dublin bus route is the famous number 10. It goes from the zoo on the northside to a huge university on the southside, and wags will tell you it can often be difficult to tell the difference between the 2 institutions. It also passes by the national TV and radio station and through the city centre, so it covers a lot. And now there’s news that it’s to be terminated and replaced by the 46A and 39A – they just don’t have the same ring to them as the 10 it seems to me. Also our family home in the West was, and still is, 10 and though my present Dublin home is a number 11 that’s really only a Spinal Tap 10..as in’ this one goes to 11’. I’ll miss the 10 and even though I know we have to ‘move on’ I really don’t see what the improvement is by replacing it…the route is all but the same from what I can gather though now not as elegantly named…
